Run VyOS on Xen, the virtualization solution behind Amazon EC2. Xen is a popular open-source hypervisor for Linux. It is included in the Linux kernel. Citrix and several other companies support Xen – the virtualization solution behind the Amazon EC2 platform.
Benefits and use cases
VyOS includes VirtIO drivers and other modules required for best performance and dynamic hardware reconfiguration in Xen. Also, VyOS doesn’t have per-instance licensing. This means that you can freely scale your installations without incurring additional costs.
Please note: since now that even low-end CPUs support hardware virtualization and cloud providers have switched to HVM mode we opted to drop support for the paravirtual mode.
